1. Who we are
MeeNook (“MeeNook”, “we”, “us”) is a free web app for board game players, operated by Lizandra Luciano, an individual developer based in the Dominican Republic.
This Privacy Policy explains what personal data we collect when you use MeeNook, how we use it, and the choices you have. If you have any questions, write to thecraftydeveloper@gmail.com.
2. Information we collect
We only collect what we need to run MeeNook:
- Account data: your name, email address, and password. Passwords are stored hashed by our authentication provider; we never see them in plain text.
- Profile data: your profile photo, default player color, language, and other preferences you choose.
- Content you create: your game library, wishlist, collections, game sessions, scores, players and teams, D&D characters, and any notes you add.
- Social data: friend requests, friend connections, and game session invitations you send or receive.
- Messages: contact form messages and bug reports you send us, including your email address so we can reply.
- Notification data: if you enable push notifications, a browser push subscription (a technical address and keys) linked to your account.
- Usage and performance data: anonymous, aggregated page views and performance metrics (such as page load times, browser, device type, and country), collected without advertising cookies.
3. How we use your information
- To provide your account and MeeNook's features, and keep your data in sync across your devices.
- To let you share your games, add friends, and play sessions together.
- To send service emails (account confirmation, password reset, replies to your messages) and the notifications you have enabled.
- To understand how MeeNook is used, improve performance, and fix bugs.
- To keep MeeNook secure and prevent abuse.
We do not sell your personal data, we do not show ads, and we do not use your data for advertising or profiling.
Where laws such as the GDPR apply, we process your data to provide the service you asked for (contract), for our legitimate interests (security and improving the app), and with your consent (for example, push notifications, which you can turn off at any time).
5. Service providers
We rely on trusted providers that process data on our behalf, only to run MeeNook:
- Supabase: authentication, database, and file storage (profile photos).
- Vercel: hosting, plus privacy-friendly Vercel Analytics and Speed Insights.
- Resend: sending emails.
- Browser push services (such as Google, Apple, or Mozilla): delivering the push notifications you have enabled.
- BoardGameGeek: we look up board game information in its public catalog. Only your search terms are sent, never your personal data.
- Donation platform: if you choose to donate, the payment is handled entirely by the external platform under its own privacy policy. We never receive or store your payment details.
These providers may store data on servers outside your country, including in the United States, and are bound by their own contractual and security safeguards. We may also disclose information when required by law.
7. Data retention and deletion
We keep your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from Profile → Delete account.
When you delete your account, your profile, library, wishlist, collections, sessions, characters, friendships, and uploaded photos are deleted immediately and permanently. Residual copies in our providers' encrypted backups are removed automatically within about 30 days.
Sessions hosted by other players may keep the player name they typed for you, but it will no longer be linked to your account. Emails you sent us may remain in our inbox.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live — including under Dominican Republic Law 172-13 on personal data protection and the EU/UK GDPR — you have the right to:
- Access your personal data and get a copy of it.
- Correct inaccurate data (most of it can be edited directly in the app).
- Delete your data.
- Object to or restrict certain processing.
- Take your data with you (you can export your library as a CSV file from the app).
- Withdraw your consent at any time, for example by turning off notifications.
To exercise any of these rights, email thecraftydeveloper@gmail.com. We will reply within 30 days. You can also file a complaint with your local data protection authority.
9. Security
We use industry-standard measures such as encrypted connections (HTTPS), hashed passwords, and database access rules that only let each user reach their own data. No online service is 100% secure, so please use a strong, unique password.
10. Children
MeeNook is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, contact us at thecraftydeveloper@gmail.com and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will update the effective date on this page and, where appropriate, let you know in the app. Continuing to use MeeNook after changes means you accept the updated policy.
12. Contact
For any question about this Privacy Policy or your data, contact Lizandra Luciano at thecraftydeveloper@gmail.com.
